PBIS

PBIS Overview
School-wide Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS)is a research-based framework that has been proven to improve school climate, reduce problem behavior, and increase academic instructional time in schools. Two primary areas of emphasis in PBIS are prevention and instruction of social behavior. PBIS is based on the idea that when students are taught clearly defined behavioral expectations and provided with predictable responses to their behavior, both positive and corrective, all students are more likely to meet those expectations.
At Magma Ranch Elementary, PBIS is the foundation of our school culture. Since 2024, we have worked hard to reimagine our learning community through updated professional learning around PBIS to reestablish multi-tiered systems of support for all Mustangs. Through our mR3 core values of Respectful, Responsible, and Right Choices, we create a safe, joyous, and supportive learning environment where every Mustang belongs and feels seen, heard, loved, and valued.
We believe that positive relationships, clear expectations, and consistent support help Mustangs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our staff intentionally teaches, models, celebrates, and reinforces the behaviors that contribute to a strong learning community. Through classroom lessons, Morning Circle, restorative practices, leadership opportunities, and schoolwide celebrations, Mustangs learn the skills needed to become confident learners, leaders, and problem-solvers.
